The Foreign Resort come from Denmark, but their New Wave / Shoegaze sound could fool you into thinking they are British. It is easy to compare then to White Lies/Editors,The Bravery,The Cure and other so called ‘indie’ bands.
Despite being easy to define and their influences conspicuous; they have managed to make this EP stand out, by choosing 5 songs, which are quite different from one another. Thus perfectly showcasing what this act is capable of.
Firstly there is "Colleen"; A catchy ditty which rushes along into the hypnotically dark and brooding "Orange Glow". A song which gradually builds but never feeling like it is rushing towards the end, as it carries you along for 6 minutes accompanied by White Lies-esq vocals.
The tempo drops further for the Cure (Disintegration/Letter to Elise era) influenced "Heart Breaks Down". Then back into galloping, catchiness territory for the danceable Jesus and Mary Chain-esq, "Take a Walk".
The EP ends on my favourite; the gothic sounding "Torch It", featuring an interesting guitar sound throughout. Once again not rushing but taking the listener on a melodic guitar driven journey. In all a diverse EP, something for all fans of the genre.
